Job Title: Education Specialist
Description: Education Specialist Provides support for the Middle School Academy. Coordinates student academics and tutoring schedules in conjunction with Site Director. Acts as liaison between classroom teachers and YMCA. Provides a quality experience to children and parents to support the objectives of the program.
Essential Functions:
- Coordinates and schedules student pre- and post-assessment testing
- Coordinates student tutoring schedules in conjunction with Site Director; acts as liaison between classroom teachers and Middle School Academy.
- Monitors student grades
- Assists Site Director in planning academic activities/functions
- Aids Site Director in collecting program/student data and documentation
- Attends all meetings/trainings relative to Middle School Academies, models, and supports Site Director
- Provides Site Director with grade level curriculum guides; assists with alignment of enrichment activities' calendar communicates with Site Director
- Communicates and updates Site Director Displays students' work/projects
- Promotes Middle School Academy to parents, students, staff, and school community
- Follows all programming and scheduling requirements
- Adheres to policies related to boundaries with youth
- Attends required abuse risk management training
- Adheres to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising youth
- Reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations
- Follows mandated abuse reporting requirements
Requirements:
- Certified teacher currently employed by Pinellas County Schools. Equivalent experience and education may substitute certification.
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications within 30 days of hire date.
- YMCA New Employee training completed before hire date.
- Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
- Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
Pay & Perks: Part-time schedule, approximately 10-15 hours/week. Must be available Monday-Friday. Pay rate: $30.00 hour; individual YMCA membership for employee and discount for family.
Work Location: Various schools across St Petersburg/Pinellas County.
*Level 2 background clearance and 10-panel drug screen required.
