The YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg is seeking a dynamic and experienced Association Dance Director to lead and grow our National and State Recognized Dance program. From recreational classes to competitive teams, this is your opportunity to build something impactful while shaping young dancers in a supportive, mission-driven environment.

What You'll Do:

As the Association Dance Director, you'll take the lead on all things dance-program design, staff leadership, and community engagement. You'll be both on the floor and behind the scenes, bringing your creative vision to life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all operations of the dance program, including scheduling, staffing, competitions, and performances.
  • Lead, grow and oversee operations for Competition Dance Team, which may include travel, overnight stay/extended weekends at Regional Competitions and Conventions.
  • Teach both recreational and competitive dance classes, plus private lessons.
  • Develop and implement engaging curriculum and ensure instructional excellence across all locations.
  • Manage program communications-create seasonal schedules, fee structures, newsletters, and social media content.
  • Plan and produce the annual YMCA Bravo event, our year-end dance showcase celebrating all program participants-manage venue, lineup, costumes, tech sheets, and staffing to ensure a smooth and memorable experience.
  • Handle hiring, training, and evaluating of dance staff.
  • Manage administrative responsibilities including registration, budgeting, attendance tracking, and family communication.

What You Bring:

  • A degree in dance or related field, or equivalent experience as a dance educator, choreographer, or performer.
  • Proven leadership in dance instruction, program management, and event production.
  • Strong leadership experience managing teams and running dance programs.
  • Proven ability to create inclusive, inspiring learning environments.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills-with an eye for detail and heart for collaboration.
  • Social media savvy and confident communication skills, especially with families and staff.
